Heaven is perceived as the perfect place. That is why in the good place, each character has their ideal life, with their perfect soulmate, and house they dream of. With this being said, there are quirks that cause each 'perfect' element to be imperfect in some way.
Eleanor and Chidi are supposed to be soulmates, however, they have nothing in common. These characters quickly identify that there was an issue when they were matched. Eleanor is told that she will have her ideal home, but when Michael presents it to her, everything about it is off. She hates the paintings inside, it is much smaller than the average person's in the good place, and it is ugly. Overall, she is unhappy with the home she was given. The good place is supposed to be ideal, but they are missing little parts that make it the perfect experience. For example, they serve frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. Nobody enjoys frozen yogurt more than ice cream, which the writers jokingly use as just another difficulty in the good place. |
